Travelling to Newcastle for Kambo: Durham, Sunderland and Across the North East
Most people sitting with Kambo travel some distance to do it — it isn't a service you'll find on every high street. If you're coming into Newcastle from Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead, Northumberland, Teesside or further afield, here's what's worth knowing before you book.
Plan the journey home, not the journey there
Getting here is the easy half. The return leg is the one people underestimate.
You shouldn't drive yourself home after a ceremony. If you've driven in alone, you'll need to leave the car and collect it later, or arrange for someone to take you back. Ideally, bring someone who can drive.
If you're relying on public transport, check the last train or bus and then give yourself a wide margin. Rushing for a connection is the opposite of what the hours after a ceremony should feel like.
Build in more time than you think
A full session — conversation, ceremony, rest — takes a few hours, and you won't be hurried out at a fixed time. Don't book anything after it. Treat the day as gone.
For people travelling an hour or more, staying locally that night is worth considering. Not essential, but it removes the pressure of a long journey when you'd rather be lying still.
Fasting on a travel day
Eight hours without food is more awkward when you're also travelling. Work out your timings before the day rather than on it. If you're coming from Teesside or Northumberland for an afternoon session, that likely means a very early breakfast or none at all.
Water is fine and encouraged — bring your three litres with you rather than planning to buy it here.
Screening happens before you travel
You won't make a long journey only to be turned away at the door. The health and medication conversation happens beforehand, during the free consultation, so suitability is established well before you set off.
This is also your chance to flag anything about the journey itself that might need working around.
If you're coming a long way
Some people travel from outside the region entirely. If that's you, say so during the consultation. Timings can often be arranged to make a long trip workable, and it's better to sort that in advance than to squeeze a ceremony into an impossible day.
Where it happens
Sessions are held in a calm, private setting in Newcastle. You'll get the details once a session is arranged rather than finding an address on a website — it's a private space, not a clinic.
Start with a conversation
Before you plan any of the logistics, have the free consultation. It covers whether Kambo is right for you in the first place, which is the question that matters before travel arrangements do.
Beyond Silence Healing works with people across Newcastle and the wider North East.
